How the affiliate model works

Most of the retailers featured on AussieDiscount.com.au participate in performance-marketing programs. These programs let independent publishers (like us) refer customers in exchange for a commission on completed purchases.

The three parties involved

• You — the shopper looking for a verified discount.
• The retailer — for example Kogan, Bonds or Chemist Warehouse.
• An affiliate network — the technical middle layer that tracks the referral and processes the payout (Commission Factory, Impact, Rakuten, Awin and similar platforms).

What happens when you click

When you click a code or deal, your browser is briefly routed through the affiliate network's tracking link before landing on the retailer's site. The network drops a short-lived cookie so the retailer can credit AussieDiscount.com.au with the referral if you complete a purchase within their tracking window (typically 1–30 days, depending on the retailer).

That cookie does not track your activity beyond the purchase. It does not contain personal information, and it cannot be used to identify you.

Editorial independence & ranking

Affiliate revenue funds the site, but it does not buy editorial favour. We publish the best deal we can find in each category — full stop.

How we rank coupons

• Verified savings — every code is tested before going live.
• Success rate — historical and reader-reported confirmation that the code actually applies at checkout.
• Freshness — newly verified codes outrank older ones with similar value.
• Restrictions — codes with no minimum spend or category restrictions outrank narrowly applicable ones.

What never affects ranking

• The size of a retailer's commission rate.
• Whether a retailer runs an affiliate program at all.
• Direct payments — we do not accept paid placements on store pages.

Where commercial links appear

Assume that every outbound link on a store page (e.g. /store/kogan, /store/bonds) is an affiliate link unless we explicitly note otherwise. This page-level assumption is consistent with the ACCC's guidance on disclosure for content publishers and with the United States FTC's 16 CFR Part 255 endorsement guidelines, which we follow voluntarily.

Editorial articles, store guides and blog content may also contain affiliate links. Where a specific paragraph promotes a product available through one of our affiliate retailers, a short on-page note will reinforce the disclosure. Our policy is over-disclose, never under-disclose.

No personal data exchanged

The affiliate-tracking process does not require us to share your personal information with retailers, nor do retailers share your purchase details back with us beyond an aggregated confirmation that a sale occurred. We do not see your name, address, email, payment method, basket contents or order number.

Regulatory framework

This disclosure is published in good faith to comply with the disclosure expectations of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010), and voluntarily adheres to the United States Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 CFR Part 255).

We are an independent Australian publisher. We are not owned by, employed by or formally partnered with any of the retailers we feature, beyond standard affiliate-network relationships described above.
